Photograph of Peshliki, a Navajo Indian silversmith, and his family outside his shop (and hogan) on the Tohatchi Indian Reservation near Gallup, New Mexico, ca.1900. He and his assistant(?) or son(?) stand near the entrance at right. A woman and four children sit on the ground at the side of the hogan. A broom leans against the side of the hogan. The hogan is constructed from rocks mortared together with a wooden roof. One of the pieces of wood in the roof reads ..."buckles". Little grows on the desolate landscape. A butte is visible in the distance.
