Description
Photograph of "a glimpse into the chapel during Passiontide, Trappist monastery, Hakodate." Fifteen monks, seated in choir stalls on both sides of the chapel bow during the service. A priest stands at the altar with his back to the chapel. There is a stove in the middle of the floor, vented outside by a long pipe in the left wall. In front of the stove is a large book on a stand. All the statues in the chapel are covered with veils.
