Description
On July 3, 2003 the last of a series of fires caused the razing of the Comstock Building at Eighth and J Streets. The pictured block was filled-in in 2005 with 800 J Lofts, a 46 million dollar mixed housing and retail structure. It was built with 225 housing units, provided 20,000 square feet of retail space and reached seven stories high. Sacramento Public Library librarians David Seagly and Millie Torrance are visible, Seagly to the far left of the photograph and Torrance walking away with blue jacket and white pants.
