Description: Photograph is a portrait of Alex Mendizabel. Alex was elected Emperor III, Casa de San Jose Court, Inc. in 1980, and was also co-founder of the Watergarden--A Health and Recreation Center in San Jose founded in 1975.
Written on sleeve holding photograph: "Alex Mendizabel." Mendizabel was a gay activist and co-founder of the Watergarden--A Health and Recreation Center in San Jose founded in 1975. He died in 1993. From Ted Sahl, "From Closet to Community"; (2002), pp.53-54.
