Original photograph has several small stains. Photograph caption dated January 1, 1957 reads "Francisco Lopez whoops with joy at discovering gold underneath Oak of the Golden Dream in Newhall, as scene was depicted on Los Angeles County float, 'First California Gold Discovery--1842--In Los Angeles County.' Two gigantic figures of Lopez and his servant were flowered with stock, chrysanthemums and sweet peas.
