Description
An overview of Powerhouse No.1 at Southern California Edison Company's Big Creek-San Joaquin River hydroelectric development. Surrounding it are the rugged mountains of the High Sierra. This powerhouse has a generating capacity of 81,000-kilowatts, and its penstocks extending up the mountain result in a static head, or water drop, of 2,131 feet.
