Title supplied by cataloger. American Meter manufactures measurement and control equipment and was established in 1836 when Samuel Down produced the first gas meters in the United States. In 1863, Down merged with two other meter manufacturers and the resulting entity was incorporated as American Meter. Looking northeast over the plant for American Meter Co., located at 300 N. Gilbert Street (bottom left corner) where it meets W. Raymer Avenue (lower right corner) in Fullerton. Railroad tracks (bottom right corner) run south of the plant and some citrus groves are in the background. Photograph dated November 22, 1955.
