Description
Fake pen with hidden microphone and wire, used by Leo Jones for surveillance as part of his Fargo operations. The wire presumably would have been hidden in the wearer's clothing, or briefcase, attached to a recording device or transmitter. Leo Hugh Jones (1926 --2002) was an early pioneer in the development of electronic surveillance and countermeasures devices. In 1950, he founded the Fargo Company to design and manufacture these high-tech specialty devices. Based in San Francisco, Fargo sold its products exclusively to law enforcement organizations around the world. In 1965, Jones founded Saber Laboratories to provide countermeasures equipment, a fledgling industry partially induced by the Cold War with Soviet Russia.
