Photograph caption dated April 13, 1956 reads, "Snow blankets Ridge Route - Snow plow clears path for stalled car on Ridge Route at Gorman. Highway maintenance crews manned dozens of plows to open traffic lanes in mountains. Trucks and school buses were halted in sudden snowfall."
