Description
Alan Silverbach discusses the book, “Fridays with Art.” He begins by explaining how he got started working at 20th Century Fox’s television division. He then shares that the first shows he worked on were “My Friend Flicka’” and “Crusade in Europe.” Silverbach then explains how television used to have to find its own sponsoring before the days of advertising. He also discusses how the business of television has changed since its conception. Also in this interview he talks about some of the shows he handled working independently from the major studios, such as, “The Carol Barnett Show.” Later in the interview he explains how the book was developed as a collection of stories written by twenty-seven different industry insiders, all of whom worked in the early days of television.
