Group portrait of the 24 members of the integrated petit jury impaneled by the United States Circuit Court for Virginia in Richmond, Virginia, for the treason trial of former Confederate president Jefferson Davis in May 1867. Standing from left to right are E. Fox, J. Freeman, J. R. Fitchett, Joseph Cox, Herman L. Wigand, L. Tabb, L. Boyd, Thomas Lucas, L. Lipscomb, A. Lilly, and (unknown first name) Wilburn. Seated from left to right are W. A. Parsons, L. Carter, C. P. Fitchett, John Newton Van Lew (in foreground), F. Smith, J. E. Frazier, J. B. Willis, B. Wardwell, Albert Royal Brooks, Lewis Lindsey, J. Morrisey, J. Turner (in foreground), and Dr. W. Scott. The portrait is composed of two photographs pasted together. The original photograph may have been created by Richmond photographer David H. Anderson, operating at the time as Anderson & Co. Photographic Art Palace. This tentative attribution is based on research citing him as the only photographer working at the time with large glass plates and also photographing groups outside of the studio. At some point, the original glass plates were apparently acquired by William W. Davies of the Lee Photographic Gallery, which was located close to Andersons Main St. studio. Photographers imprint stamped on verso "Lee Photographic Gallery, formerly Vannerson & Jones, over Richmond Musical Exchange, 920 Main Street, Wm. W. Davies. John W. Davies, Supt."
