Description
The rubber dam is a tube 150 feet long and 30 feet in circumference and extends up the vertical walls of the Los Angeles river channel 10 feet on each side. It is anchored with bolts, leaving 130 feet of the tube on the bottom. Material is neoprene and nylon one-inch thick. A one-inch wide strip will support more than 500 pounds before breaking. The rubber dam is inflated with water through a pipe connection with a tank on the river bank. Weight of water on top of the dam causes it to collapse.
