Description: Portrait of Charles M. Hatfield, rainmaker, on January 11, 1918. When Los Angeles was having a dry period in the winter of 1918, he came forward and volunteered to bring rain. But before he had time to go to work with his mysterious rain-making apparatus, down came a big fat rainfall.
