Photograph caption dated June 18, 1958 reads "Picture taken from observer's seat showing head rest of pilot in foreground was snapped as North American Sabre slashed earthward from 47,000 feet at 1,050 miles per hour. Note angle of horizon upper right of photo. Super Sabre is nation's first supersonic fighter-bomber capable of packing an atomic bomb. It also carries four 20mm cannons when combat equipped." The pilot made a 45-minute flight over the Mojave Desert.
