Photographic portrait and collage of the first employees of the Pasadena and Los Angeles Electric Railroad, with equipment, Los Angeles, ca.1900. Thirty-four employees of the Electric Railroad are pictured in suits, engineers' uniforms and conductors' uniforms, in differing scale. At center, a single man is shown without a suit or uniform, with his hand tucked behind his back. A man who appears to be dressed as a traveler holding suitcases can be seen to the left of the man. A train is pictured crossing a bridge in the swatch above and to the right of him, while what appears to be the railroad depot is pictured in the swatch below. An image of four men posed around what appear to be two surveying instruments on tripods can be seen at top center. Three swatches depicting electric rail cars in varying view are pictured along the bottom of the collage.
