Photograph article dated April 4, 1950 partially reads, "A native born Chinese, who will observe his 73rd birthday next month, may become an oil tycoon this week. He is Joseph Woo, owner of an 80-acre parcel being tested for oil by Standard Oil Company. The Woo No. 1 wildcat a half mile west of Sepulveda Blvd. and 200 feet south of Lassen St., is down to 9736 feet and is slated for a production test before the week end." Photograph caption reads, "Much at stake - Joseph Woo stands on hilltop on his Sepulveda ranch home to view wildcat oil test operation on his 80 acres. Oil strike may bring much wealth to San Francisco-born farmer."
