Photograph article dated February 26, 1962 partially reads, "A Van Nuys man, suffering severe chest injuries and loss of memory, today was unable to tell sheriff's deputies how he lived through a 300-foot auto plunge in Big Tujunga Canyon. Wallace H. Elkins, 40, 6539 Fulton Ave., was found Tuesday afternoon by passers-by after his four-door sedan went off Angeles Crest Highway, fell 200 feet through the air, hit the side of the canyon, then tumbled another 100 feet to the bottom of the canyon." Pictured is Bill Da Cosse, 18, Big Tujunga Canyon resident who spotted the wreck and helped lift Elkins out alive.
