Key Words: Claremont City Council; Claremont’s Businesses; Claremont Centennial Bike Summary: Mr. McCready was interviewed as part of the "Tell Me a Story" project during the 4th of July celebration, 1995. Mr. McCready purchased Bud Day’s bike shop, which he renamed “Bud’s Bike Shop.” He made a tandem “Bicycle Built for Five,” a.k.a. the “Centennial Bike,” which the city council members rode in the 4th of July Parade for seven years. He ran for City Council in 1984 and advocated for local businesses. His campaign platform centered around fixing what he thought was a broken system of representation between development companies and local government officials.
