This complicated new radio-photo transmitter in New York sends a photograph of President Hoover, 3500 miles across the Atlantic to the liner America as it sails from Hamburg, Germany. Transmission of the "flying photograph" inaugurates a regular service of sending photos and facsimiles of handwriting, market reports, newpaper stories and cartoons from shore to the liner. The apparatus translates the lights and shadows of the image into radio waves. Photo dated: June 18, 1930.
