Description
This image was part of a California State Library photographic history project documenting the daily lives and historical, political, and cultural contributions of California's diverse communities. On June 12, 1999, Long Beach residents donated to the Long Beach Public Library 398 family and personal photographs as part of this ongoing statewide project. Here, six young women and girls wearing 1920's fashions are seated together on a lawn outside a residence. The home shows some craftsman style elements, including narrow, grouped multi-pane windows and a porch awning supported by curved, paired corbels. Narrow concrete walkways divide the lawn into sections. The individuals in front, from left to right are: Marjorie Kingcade and Dorris Kingcade holding baby Marjorie Duncan (on lap). In the back row, from left to right: Aleen Duncan; Marion Gardner, and Calla Kingcade. DATE NOTES: Noted on image back. ORIG. IMAGE: 5" x 8" B&W glossy print. NEGATIVE: No. KEYWORDS: Women, fashion, costume, architecture.
