This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Photo is captioned "Powell and Clay Streets looking East, Goat Island and S.F. Bay in distance." View actually looks north on Powell. The two churches seen were on the west side of Powell. The horsecar tracks of the North Beach and Mission Railroad can be seen in the distance turning from Broadway onto Powell (no street railway line ran on Clay at this time). Angel Island can be seen in bay, which is visible from Powell Street. Goat Island can not be seen from Clay St.
