Sergeant Mathanson was in Washington for finals of the 3rd Annual Marine Corps Reserve Technique of Instruction Competition. These finals are result of nationwide competition within Organized Marine Corps Reserve units, designed for better teaching and instruction at local unit level, and consequently improve efficiency of vital Marine Corps Reserve training program."
