Description
A tree stands in the dark. The three lynch victims have been removed in this conceptually driven photographic series which sought to raise awareness of the history of lynching in California. The triple lynching took place on Franklin Avenue in Santa Rosa, California. Two Anglo men and one Latino were lynched by a mob that was alleged to have included police officers. See Lynching in the West: 1850-1935 (Duke, 2006).
