Title supplied by cataloger. Photograph dated September 3, 1958 shows Charlotte Atkinson, 33, during arraignment proceedings in the Van Nuys Municipal Court. Atkinson admitted to shooting her third husband, Ralph Atkinson, with a shotgun, on the night of August 17, 1958, claiming she was afraid her husband would strike her and that the gun was only meant to scare him but accidentally fired. The case was eventually dismissed after her two daughters from a previous marriage testified that Mr. Atkinson had beaten their mother.; See images #00118923 through #00118924 for all photos in this series.
