Description
This recording presents excerpts of a speech by Ronald Reagan originally broadcast by KWAV, the student-run radio station of Pepperdine College. The event took place at Peppedine College's Friendship Hall on the Los Angeles campus on October 18, 1966, just three weeks before California's gubernatorial elections. Sponsored by Educators for Reagan, the dinner and fundraiser was attended by about 350 Southern California educators. The recording begins with Reagan talking with a supporter, which is followed by an introduction by Max Rafferty, the State School Superintendent (00:17). Excerpts from Reagan's speech (01:08) cover topics that include the University of California system, unions and collective bargaining, and other issues having to do with education and politics.
