Vilma and Monica, with paint rollers in hand, help to paint the new home awarded to them by Habitat for Humanity. After the house was completed in 2003, the Osunas moved to Venice from Korea town. The oldest of three children, Monica was in highschool when this photograph was taken. She now attends Pierce College and is interested in becoming a veterinarian. Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization, does not give away houses. They require Habitat homeowners to invest 500 hours of "sweat equity" to help build their home and they must each qualify for a 0% interest mortgage. Photograph dated December 21, 2002.
