Description
"Ein Schlafkranker" ("A man suffering from sleeping sickness"). The man is lying on his side. He is lying on a mat on the ground, partly covered by a rug.
Sleeping sickness: Human African Trypanosomiasis is a parasitic disease. The parasites are transmitted to humans by tsetse flies which acquired their infection from human beings or from animals harbouring the parasites. Various kinds of tsetse flies are found in Sub-Saharan Africa but only certain species transmit the disease.
