Description
George Pepperdine wrote this letter--one of a series--during the around-the-world journey that he took with his mother in 1928. He described these letters as intended for his friends and all the employees that composed his "Western Auto Family." This letter includes an account of his time in Switzerland and Italy, specifically the cities of Venice, Rome, and the port city of Brindisi on his way to Alexandria, Egypt. In his third letter, Pepperdine outlines his interactions with Swiss locals in Basel, Switzerland, and their accounts of Switzerland during World War I. His day trip to Rome, in particular, is highlighted by a tour into the Catacombs, a number of museum visits, and a tour of the Colosseum.
