Description
This is part three of an event in Pepperdine history known as the "Birth of a College” dinner, which featured the unveiling of the plans for the Malibu campus and a speech by Governor Ronald Reagan. The event was held at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles with an overflow crowd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 9, 1970. This recording features remarks by Pepperdine Chancellor William S. Banowsky (02:07) and President M. Norvel Young (17:00), followed by the keynote address by Ronald Reagan, Governor of California (38:06). Governor Reagan, who also received an honorary doctorate degree, spoke on the subject of students, independent colleges, and education. Donald V.
