Description
This postcard style photograph shows damage to Fire Station #1 from the March 10, 1933 Long Beach Earthquake. The facade of the brick building, 200 West Third Street at Pacific Avenue, housing "Squad-1" has fallen and on the side windows are broken and there is more masonry damage. The street is blocked off and a crowd gathers in the back. Several men and women, a few in uniform, are within the barracade surveying damage. On the right is a sign for "City Hall Auto Park" located at 239 Pacific Avenue. DATE NOTES: Circa 1933. ORIG. IMAGE: 3.5" X 5.5", Black and white glossy print.
