Description
Inscribed pillar under modern protective pavilion, located to the left of the stairway to the image house. Signage describing the inscription on the pillar constructed by King Mahinda IV (956-972 CE) in his 10th regnal year: "The inscription records the upliftment of the Buddhist order and mentions some rules laid down for the administration of certain religious establishments." It also includes details of an accounting system.
