Description
Photograph of a ski jumper soaring above a crowd of spectators at Banff by R.J. Verne, 1920. At center we see the jumper, clad in dark colored clothing with his arms spread in a "V" as he leaps into the air. Below, a thick crowd gathers in a grand stand to the right of the scene and overflows onto the snow-covered ground, watching the jump. To the right, more spectators gather on the roof of a two-story cabin and beneath its eaves. Behind the crowded area we can see a sprinkling of people walking about in the snow. Further down is a line of trees, utility poles and a crowded thoroughfare. In the distance, the ground is covered in a thick blanket of snow and dotted with trees.
