Photograph caption dated December 3, 1963 reads, "When Dirk Little, 2, lost his frolicking black puppy Monday near the Ventura Freeway, he called and called but the pup wouldn't come back. There was only one thing to do - go after it. Dirk was found on the Laurel Canyon Boulevard off-ramp by Marie Oland, 6127 Jamison Ave., Reseda, who took him to the North Hollywood police station. An hour later juvenile officers received a call from his mother and within minutes she had arrived to take him home to 4509 Laurel Canyon Blvd. Dirk was unharmed and the black puppy safe after a freeway adventure."
