Photo of a large street mural of famous film actors painted on the southeast wall of the Playmates of Hollywood building located at 6438 Hollywood Boulevard. The mural titled "You are the star" shows dozens of film legends sitting in a darkened movie theater; among these recognizable icons are: John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe, Shirley Temple sitting on the lap of W.C. Fields (who reportedly hated children), James Dean, and Marlon Brando, to name but a few. Self-trained artist Thomas Suriya is a native of Northern California. This was his first mural, painted in 1983. He currently lives in New Mexico and works in film and television creating special effects.
