Description: Photograph caption dated December 1, 1951 reads, "This is a photo of the television screen as seen by the doctors while the operation was being performed. The operation was the removal of a thyroid gland. Viewers said the picture was so realistic they felt as though they were at the surgeon's side." This operation took place at General Hospital in Boyle Heights.
