Image of the United States bombarding the citadel of San Juan de Ulua that defended the city of Veracruz, Mexico, during the Mexican-American War; the city of Veracruz and the attack on the fort are visible in the distance with American ships and soldiers performing an amphibious invasion on the shore in the foreground.
Date supplied by cataloger based on printer history and event date; Risso printed independently from 1838-1847/8 in New Orleans. "Risso Lith."--text, bottom center margin. "J.F.B. Direxit."--text, bottom right margin.
