Photographs by Carleton E. Watkins of the L.J. Rose property, Sunny Slope. The photographs depict the extensive property of L.J. Rose, including the residence, vineyard, citrus groves, winery buildings, and surrounding landscape. Watkins made the photographs on two trips to Southern California, in 1877 and 1880. Watkins made many of these photographs in other formats as well, including mammoth, stereograph, and cabinet views. The album is unusual in its presentation of all photographs printed in a circular format (diameter 5").
