Description
This souvenir is from the commemorative event of the Buffalo Brewing Company, held on September 9, 1895. The festivities included, among other things, an electric carnival. The original location of Buffalo Brewery was at 21st and Q street.
The Brewery officially incorporated on November 10, 1888. The founder Hemann Grau, also persuaded many influential Sacramentans to invest in his business. For a time, was one of the most successful breweries west of the Mississippi.
The four story brewery had a capacity of approx. 75,000 barrels a year and employed 100 men. The brewery also provided a ready market for hops and barley grown in the country.
