Six men can be seen standing in the doorways of one of the two cars, while tall pine trees are visible behind the train. A snow-covered mountain can be seen in the background, while dirt and weeds are visible on the flat land in the foreground. The sides of the train read, "M.C.R.R.R", "United States Mail Railway Post Office 01", "McCloud River R.R.", "Baggage", "US Mail 02" and "Wells Fargo & Co. Express". A boxcar at right reads, "R&M 60091". Photoprint reads: "Passenger train on McCloud River Rail Road".
