Photograph of monks sawing on a tree stump to clear the land at Mission Santa Barbara, ca.1900. The monks hold the two-man saw between them. They wear work aprons over their Franciscan habits. A large pile of cut branches lays on the ground behind them. A two-story wood building is visible in the background at left. The saw is of their own make.
