Photograph caption dated December 21, 1949 reads, "Gordon W. Murchie, right, 17-year-old student of government, shows John G. Foxe [sic], left, principal of North Hollywood High School, a letter signed by Governor Earl Warren which gained him admission to the U. S. Senate during his visit to Washington. Murchie, who plans a career in politics, was started on his studies by Thomas C. Smith, center, U. S. vice consul and disbursing officer at the American Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden."
