Photograph of Los Angeles Department of Public Works surveyors at work, 1930-1939. The surveyors are gathered around a temporary wooden tower at left. The tower is made of thin wooden beams and has a cloth roof on top. One man is up in the tower while the others are standing near the base of it. A large automobile with wooden sides is parked near the tower at right. Several small houses can be seen across a grassy field in the background.
