It opened in September 1947, with 70 students and 18 faculty members and is part of the Los Angeles Community College District. In 1956 the school was renamed Los Angeles Pierce College. Photograph caption dated January 18, 1961 reads "Building at Pierce is scheduled to continue for many years to meet the demands of rising enrollments. In the background is the nearly completed cafeteria."; See images #00119960 through #00119964 for all photos in this series.
