Description
In the iron lung pictured here is Richard Wright, 22, the "guinea pig" on which a new life-saving attachment for the iron lung first proved its value. Dr. Phoebus Berman points to the new gadget on September 3, 1948. Others, standing, left to right, are Supervisor Leonard Roach, Arthur J. Will and Supervisor William Smith.
