Foley, born in 1887 in St. Cloud, Minnesota, was a prominent businessman and agriculture advocate in Los Angeles. He was chairman of the board of Los Angeles Turf Club. He was a benefactor of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and the Edward T. Foley Center on that campus is named in his honor. Photograph caption dated November 9, 1967 reads "Dr. Francisco Bravo (left), president of the Southern California Hereford Association who serves on the committee for agriculture for the state of California, presents an award to prominent businessman--cattle rancher Edward T. Foley, 'for his outstanding contribution to the cattle business and all of agriculture' during the 42nd annual Great Western Exposition and Livestock Show, while Mrs. Foley looks on."
