First photograph caption dated April 5, 1951 reads, "A posthumous honor medal award to Al Jolson, who was nominated by a combat soldier in Korea, was presented to the singer's widow, Mrs. Erle Jolson."; Second photograph caption dated June 7, 1951 reads, "Mrs. Erle Jolson, pretty 25-year-old widow of famed comedian Al Jolson, today won continuance of a $3333 monthly allowance for her support pending distribution of the singer's $3,236,000 estate."
