Photograph caption dated April 10, 1954 reads, "Pair of exotic little addtions to Griffith Park Zoo have their 'must' luncheon--bamboo salad. They're Lesser Pandas, as distinguished from Greater Pandas which are black and white. These two, arrived this week, are rich reddish brown with white and black markings, long bushy tails. They are from China and diet comprises fruit, milk, eggs and bamboo leaves."
