Description
Collection of correspondence letters and other documents to Charles Handy. The first letter, from Sue Corbett, discusses issues concerning the supply of Handy's book at a number of book stores. The second letter, from Andrew Franklin, discusses Andrew Best not revealing an offer from Century Hutchinson of a large sum of money for Handy's work, and Franklin's willingness to match the offer from Century. The third letter, from Andrew Best, is in response to Franklin's letter and gives his side of the story, clarifying the issues regarding the offers and funding for Handy's work. The fourth letter, from Best, informs Handy of two copies of a contract with Century Hutchinson, one for Handy to keep and the other to sign and return to Best. It also urges Handy to set up a meeting with Uli Rushby-Smith. The fifth letter, from D.C. Samworth, expresses satisfaction with Handy's consultation and references Professor Janice McCormick for Handy’s interests. The sixth letter, from Denise Richards for the office of Sir Douglas Hague, CBE, expresses delight that Handy may be able to participate in a course session for a Templeton College program. A seventh document gives a brief biography of Handy for recognition as an Oriel Industrial Fellow. The seventh letter, from a secretary at the London Business School, discusses a salary raise for Handy’s teaching at the LBS. The eighth letter, from D.C. Samworth, informs Handy of a “Handy Committee” held at the Moorland Links Hotel. It proceeds to request from Handy any comments that could contribute to the drafting of a policy statement for Samworth Brothers, Ltd. The tenth document is a draft of the policy statement. The tenth letter, from Caroline Phillips, tells Handy about a number of proposals at Ginsters, the hiring of a training manager, and the enhancement of communication systems, among other concerns. The eleventh letter, from Denis Kearney, informs Handy of the developments resulting from the Handy Committee. The twelfth letter, from Gordon Peters of the Institute for Management Studies, seeks to confirm with Handy his workshop seminar schedule as well as fees to be covered by IMS. It also requests an outline from Handy for the seminar.
