Description
Note: Nrn. 46-49 [QC-30.016.0040-0043]. Panorama v. Tellitscherry von den Felsen im Meer aus gesehen. Zur äussersten Linken sehen wir wieder Bild 45 vor uns von den ersten nahestehenden Palmen überschattet, dann folgt nach Rechts die blendend weisse römische Kapelle
zwischen den Casarinobäumen blickt die Flaggenstange hervor, weiterhin das Fort u. andere Regierungsgebäude, Lagerhäuser u. Wohnungen v. Europäern u. der Eingeborenen, besonders der Mapla. Zur äussersten Rechten ist das grössere Fischerdorf, wo die Kähne am Ufer an.... [Entzifferung unklar]. Die weissen Flecken auf den Meerfelsen sind Austermuscheln, die sich hier in grosser Menge u. von treffllichem Geschmack vorfinden." (3. Quartalsbericht 06.10.1860: 5-6).
Note translation: "Nos. 46-49 [QC-30.016.0040-0043]. Panoramic view of Tellicherry seen from a rock in the sea. On the extreme left we see photo 45 again, shadowed by the first nearby palms. The to the right there is the brilliant white roman church, and a flagstaff visible between the casarino trees.Then comes the fort, other government buildings, warehouses and the dwelling houses of both Europeans and local people, especially Maplas. On the extreme right is a large fishing village, with canoes....[reading uncertain]. The white patches on the rocks are oysters, which grow here in large numbers, and are excellent. (C.G.
