Howard P. Courtney was born in Frederick, Oklahoma in 1911. He became associated with Aimee Semple McPherson and the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. He attended the church's college in Los Angeles and graduated in 1932. From 1944 to 1950 Dr. Courtney became Supervising Director of Foreign Missions and later held several important posts within the Church and published several theological works. He died in 2001.
